The SWVHJA mission is to promote and encourage good sport and good horsemanship; to better educate both the horse and rider for safety and enjoyment in the saddle and on the ground, and most importantly, to develop knowledge for the humane treatment of the horse. In an effort to promote the mission of our organization, The SWVHJA Junior Committee will mentor a Junior Board, whose mission will be to provide opportunities for junior members of the association to develop a strong foundation of horsemanship, while promoting teamwork and leadership among their peers.
The Junior Board will be responsible for the organization of junior clinics, social events and charitable giving opportunities throughout our community. The Junior Board will also be responsible, with the mentorship of the Senior Board, to organize and run the SWVHJA Junior Benefit Show. Any Junior member of SWVHJA is eligible to apply to the Junior board. Applications will be due June 1st, and board members will be announced at the SWVHJA Junior Carnival June 13th.
On Thursday June 13th, the Junior Committee will hosting a carnival held at Clover Grove Stables following the course building clinic. Open to all SWVHJA junior members and parents! Starting at 6:00 there will be activities such as Volleyball, watergates, a bonfire and more! Please RSVP your intent to attend to Holly Flory at 540-280-2877 by Friday June 7th.
